Alid Faski Natva

Part 11

When Anatoly became absolutely healthy he came back to Alid Faski Natva but for another reason.

I want to learn from you.

This request was not new for Alid Faski Natva. Many people have expressed their wish to become his students. But everybody who asked had no idea how difficult it was to become a student of Raja yoga. To do that one needs to change his lifestyle, his attitude towards everything, to reject his “I” and completely trust his Teacher. Once Uri P. of Chelabinsk came to Alid Faski Natva with a serious intent to become a student of his. Alid Faski Natva took him to a premises where renovations where in process and asked him to do a simple physical job. Uri worked there for a week and his desire to become Alid Faski Natva’s student disappeared. He did not understand and did not pass the simple test. How he could teach someone whose spirit was weak? He could give in to any temptations! He would think first of all about himself – not about others. He was searching for an easy path, like many others do; he thought that by becoming Alid Faski Natva’s student he would get an energy potential and ability to control others and so on… But learning Raja- Yoga is about forming a new life outlook, and to achieve that they use methods sometimes not understandable for an ordinary person. And that what is not understandable is as a rule not acceptable.

Alid Faski Natva looked at Anatoly.

-You are not ready yet, you have your life to live. Live your life and than we will see…

Anatoly like other seekers did not know that according to Raja-yoga philosophy, the Teacher finds his student when he is ready, not the other way around.

Many people are searching for the Truth in life. It has to be something in life which is beyond the boundaries of our everyday routine existence, something that has its idea its order. The desire to get to know ourselves, to rise above the reality of our lives and to tap into other dimensions which would give us understanding about the meanings of our lives have always been our highest wish. Not being able to realize their potentials in a variety of fields, not finding answers to the meaning of our existence people are searching for the answers in esoteric books, getting further away from authentic religion, from church’s explanation of life’s and spiritual values, making themselves deaf towards them…

“The one who has ears would hear” – says the New Testament.

But they do not hear. A distorted view about everlasting religious truth in esoteric literature suits people more. They do not even realize that the twisted foggy language of some books takes them into an erroneous understanding of the world and the cultivated sense of self importance does not lead them to the truth, it leads their consciousness into a dead end. In the same way the other means of escaping the reality do. Dissatisfied with their lives and not even trying to make an effort to change things some people relive themselves from life by consuming large amounts of alcohol or drugs. Those things make a slave out of a human. After the kick they get from a drug it wears off, the temporary pass to a worriless and illusory world expires and the person reenters the reality which he can not accept any longer, as there is neither willpower nor physical power to do that. This seemingly easy path is in reality a path to a kingdom of the dead, which has no return from it. Some irreversible physical and psychological processes start in a human body which could not be stopped by the person without an external help. Some new and new victims voluntarily and surely get into that trap.

The news about an extraordinary visitor from Russia spread around Maal Adumim very quickly. Cottage where Rotenbergs lived became very popular. Locals would come along in the evenings to see Alid Faski Natva. Long discussions, many questions about different issues – their new lives on their ancestors’ motherland was predisposing them to search for answers. They talked a lot about Torah – the main holly book, written by the prophets, who got their teachings from God. In that book which was carried along for centuries there are hundreds of traditions, prohibitions for many life situations and also instructions how to pray. The testaments passed on there are about lifestyle, culture, rules about fasting and celebrations.

Alid Faski Natva advised them to conduct the religious ceremonies consciously, without excess exaltations, getting into the meaning of them: he explained some points in Torah which seemed to be contradictory at the first glance and sometimes not clear. Alid Faski Natva warned the newly born philosophers which showed him their work in Russian language, about the dangers of new interpretation of Torah. He said that things in that book are wisely conveyed and some aspects which are unclear for Russian migrants are due to particular lifestyle of Israeli people and also the specifics of the climate. Obviously during ancient times Torah had been rewritten and changed many times. This holly book was corrected to reflect the changing times and circumstances where the community lived. But the main pole, the idea, the truth of it was kept alive. That is how religion renews itself… Then another book appeared – Talmud. It is a book of interpretations to Torah. Talmud in its turn is full of stories, sometimes resonating with our modern times. While asking their questions the gests were arguing their religious views. Alid Faski Natva would pacify them with his genuine words: “God is one, truth is one. In all times in all cultures and nations prophets would come from time to time to teach people and to show them the way to their salvation. If you would look carefully all religions carry the eternal truth – ethics of live”. People were living late inspired by the conversation with Alid Faski Natva.
